Stop Over In Jakarta

I took a flight from London to Jedda which was 6 hours and then changed in Jedda to a second flight (same ticket so no need to deal with luggage) which was 10 hours so the travel time was pretty long – however the single ticket was onl £350.00 so I was happy to make the saving and be in the air longer than a direct flight (12 hrs) plus I like to stop over as you get to stretch your legs and get out of the confines of an aeroplane cabin.

I arrived into Jakarta at 4pm local time and it was too late to get a domestic flight to Lombok so I stayed over in a cheap airport hotel – I’ll post a video of it so you can see.

There are various administrative necessities at Jakarta airport before clearing customs that involve buying a VOE Visa on Entry 500,000 RP (£25.00) this needs no previous activity but it is necessary to have 6 months on your passport and have a return ticket. You simply queue at the designated desk and they give you an electronic visa on your passport. This allows tourists to stay for 30 days and it can be renewed once for another 30 days. I may do this or I may try to aquire a digital nomad visa, I wont know until I take advice from a lawyer once I’m settled.

The next stage id to complete the digital customs declaration which is accessed vi a QR code and then you screen shot the code to show to customs.

here’s a few snaps of a couple of things struck me at the airport:
FREE charging stations which was really useful after a long flight!

FRESH orange juice machine : )

Time to find the airport hotel and check in!
